Dani's "Office Hours"

Although Danielle Moonstar did have an office in the mansion, just like all the other instructors at Xavier's, she seldom used it. If you wanted to find Dani your best bet was this little room just off to the side of Brightwind's stable. It was close to all the horses. (Although Brightwind had his own private stable because he occasionally went full tilt Asgardian Battle Steed, and that disturbed the others. Also, in horse terms, Brightwind might be a bit of a diva.) It had a coffee maker, a microwave, a small fridge, a heavily modified gaming console with a 60" flat panel monitor and streaming Netflix, a few comfy chairs, and, most importantly, it was far away from the bustle and noise of the mansion.

What more did a girl need?

Raising Questions You Didn't Even Know Needed to be Asked

It had been a very frustrating time for the Xaiver Institute. There had been the initial outing of the school itself. There had been the injuries to her friends, including Brianna's lengthy coma. There had been the threats of Child Services actions to Em and to Misha's boys. Whatever mess was going on with the Summers.

And the dang near constant presence of the media and protestors on their front lawn. Getting so a girl couldn't even go out for a smoke or sneak out for some beers.

Which, all together, meant everything was getting on Rose's last nerve.

So today, she was in the solarium, sitting on the floor, legs crossed, eyes closed.

Deep breath in.

Deep breath out.

Deep breath in.

Deep breath out.

Deep breath in.

Deep breath out.

Lousy muties!

Rose's eyes snapped open. Dad-blasted super-hearing.

She cast a death glare out the window. Still a flippin' circus on their front lawn.

An Administrator Came to Westchester

Mrs. Mary MacNeilly had made the hour trip out to a private school in Westchester county. She was the person assigned from the State Education Department's Office of Nonpublic School Services to perform a surprise inspection of the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. It had been some time since an in-person inspection of this learning facility had been conducted. It had fallen to Mrs. MacNeilly to go and assess how the school fit the understaffed Office of Accountability's educational parameters.

She drove her midsized sedan up to the gates. She announced herself on the intercomm as "Mary MacNeilly from the New York State Education Department for a compliance inspection."

She drummed her fingers on the steering wheel as she waited for some administrator to allow her on the grounds.
